The paper carton has become a favored way to package food and beverages due to its convenience, sterilization and minimal impact to the environment. In particular, aseptic packaging and gable top cartons have become a standard economical choice for the beverage producing industry and are now indispensable part of our daily lives. As Taiwan’s economy has developed, its citizens have rightfully begun to demand a higher quality of life of which a clean environment is a critical part. The paper carton producing industry has responded to these demands and established the Paper Carton Alliance (PCA). In an addition to introducing more efficient packaging technologies to Taiwan, PCA is taking the lead in the education and implementation of recovering used paper cartons for use in the recycling process.

Indeed, PCA has been working hard to support the government’s promotion of the “Three R’s of environmental protection: Reduce, Recover and Re-Utilization. For instance, gable top cartons are now being recycled in Taiwan to make writing paper. More importantly, PCA has recently succeeded in winning the cooperation of local paper mills to produce industrial paper products with recovered aseptic paper.

PCA believes that creating a clean environment is the responsibility of all citizens and we have therefore carried out various educational activities designed to teach consumers how they can do their part.
